Male terminalia distinctive due to essentially spatula-like superior volsella, unlike any of the Strenzke types, perhaps closest to d of his D-type, as well a large extension of the base, covered in fine setae comes up lateral to it. Inferior volsella with unforked setae. About 13-14 bristles on tergite IX. Gonostylus tapers over posterior third.
Female: Allotype, and only available specimen:
Colour essentially as in male.
Wing length 4.58 mm; width 1.20 mm; VR 0.94; 35-38 setae in squamal fringe, 4-4(+2 small) SCf on brachiolum.
Head: Frontal tubercles 28-30 µm long and 11-12.5 µm wide, i.e. 2.4 times longer than wide.
Antennal proportions (micron) (% of segment neck in brackets): 193 (20) : 130 (36) : 135 (41) : 123 (39) : 230.
Palpal proportions (micron): 75 : 70 : 223 : 266 : 416.
Clypeal setae – 56; clypeus 1.6 times the diameter of the antennal pedicel.
Thoracic setae: 24 acrostichal; 5, 5+1 humeral in a group near the pronotum; 25-26 dorsocentral; 9 prealar; 2 supraalar; scuellum with 16 large setae in posterior row and 30 scattered smaller setae anterior to this row.

BR about 2
Typical female terminalia, about 3 setae on GcIX and 9 on segment X which is relatively wide at ventral end. Cercus essentially a rounded square (i.e. all sides about equal, with an extension at the ventral base.
Types: Holotype male: Lake Edward (37.633°S, 140.600°E), ASA.36.3, 30.viii.1973, (leg. Jon & C.J. Martin) reared adult with pupal and larval exuviae (♂3), slide mounted. Allotype female: Lake Edward, ASA.36.5, 19.viii.1975 (leg. Jon Martin & W. Canning) reared adult with pupal and larval exuviae (♀1), slide mounted.
