Chironomus species SS

Appears related to C. species PK6

Adult, Pupa and Larva not described.

Cytology: Four polytene chromosomes with the pseudothummi-cytocomplex combination BF, CD, AE, G.
Nucleolus terminal on arm G, which has two well developed BRs near the middle of the arm.  Arm G closely paired.
No polymorphism reported.

Arm A1:    1 - 2c, 11 - 7, 12, 3 - 2d, 6 - 4, 13 - 19                                       Inv4-12 from striatipennis
Arm B1:    Puff about 1/3 from centromere, with dark bands distal                  as sp.PK6
Arm C1:    As species pk6, and large inv. c.f. striatipennis
Arm D1:    Differs by simple inversion from species PK6
Arm E1:    1 - 3e, 10b - 3f, 10c - 13                      as luridus, etc
Arm F1:    1 - 2a, 15 - 11, 7 - 2b, 8 - 10, 16 - 23                  Inv2b-7 from striatipennis
Arm G1:    Terminal nucleolus, large BR about center of arm and smaller one more distal.

Found:    India - Delhi area.
